We are committed to making this website accessible and easy to use for as many people as possible, in line with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.
What we have implemented
The design of this site applies accessibility good practice, including:
- Semantic landmarks - clear page structure using headers, navigation, main and footer regions, with one main heading per page and a logical heading order.
- Keyboard support - all links, buttons, menus and form fields can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone.
- Visible focus - a clear focus outline shows keyboard users where they are on the page.
- Alternative text - meaningful images carry text alternatives, and decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology.
- Colour contrast - text and interface colours are chosen to meet AA contrast ratios.
- Reduced motion - animations are disabled for visitors who set a "reduce motion" preference in their device.
- Responsive layout - content reflows for small screens and supports zooming without loss of content.
Known limitations
Because this is a concept demonstration, some material is illustrative and has known limitations:
- Placeholder media and imagery may not yet carry final, descriptive alternative text.
- Some sample documents and downloads are placeholders and may not be fully accessible.
- Third-party services linked from this site, such as eCitizen, are outside our control and may meet different standards.

If you find a part of this site that is difficult to use, or you need information in a different format, please tell us. Email accessibility@mfa.go.ke and describe the problem and the page it occurred on. We aim to respond and, where possible, provide the information you need in an accessible way.
