How to read the levels

Four advisory levels

Each advisory carries one of four levels. The level is shown in words as well as colour.

  • Level 1Normal precautionsTake the same everyday precautions you would at home. Conditions are broadly stable.
  • Level 2Exercise increased cautionBe more alert than usual. There are heightened risks to safety or security in some areas.
  • Level 3Reconsider travelAvoid non-essential travel. Serious risks may affect your safety, movement or access to services.
  • Level 4Do not travelDo not travel. If you are already there, leave if it is safe to do so and contact your nearest mission.
