Apply for an e-passport

All Kenyan passports are e-passports, applied for on eCitizen. First-time applicants complete the online application, then attend the mission to capture biometrics.

Who it is for

Kenyan citizens applying for a passport for the first time.

What to bring

  • Your national ID or birth certificate
  • Copies of the parents' IDs for a first-time minor
  • Proof of the eCitizen fee payment
  • Any previous travel document you hold

How it works

  1. 1Complete the passport application on eCitizen and pay the fee.
  2. 2Book and attend a biometrics appointment at your mission.
  3. 3Your fingerprints and photo are captured and the application is submitted for production.
  4. 4Collect the e-passport, or have it returned as advised by your mission.
