Motor vehicles
Register a duty-free vehicle
Members of the mission and their dependent spouses are each entitled to one duty-free motor vehicle. Vehicles are applied for on IPMIS under PRO 1B and allocated a CD registration series.
PRO 1BWho it applies to
Members and their dependent spouses (one vehicle each); unaccompanied members, one vehicle.
How it works
- 1Apply on IPMIS under PRO 1B motor vehicles for duty-free release.
- 2On approval, the vehicle is registered and allocated a CD registration number.
- 3Pay the applicable registration and number-plate fees on eCitizen.
Conditions and notes
- The vehicle must be genuinely required for personal use of the member or official use of the mission.
- Duty-free authority is not transferable, and the vehicle may not be lent, sold, pledged, hired or given away without prior written permission of the customs authorities.
- The duty-free vehicle privilege runs for a standard four-year tour; earlier replacement may be authorised for irretrievable loss or uneconomical repair.
